The BBT Remember Program aims to commemorate the victims of the Tigray genocide and the heroes who fought to save Tigray by documenting and memorializing the events of the genocide for future learning.

Why Remeber

Why Remember?

Although the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement was signed in November 2022, justice has yet to be served and accountability guaranteed. Tigrayans who have been directly or indirectly impacted by the genocide will never forget what transpired. The commemoration will serve as a tribute to those perished, to the destruction inflicted, and the attempted annihilation of an entire people. The world must know and understand what Tigrayans — both civilian and military — went through and what they sacrificed to preserve their history, culture, and their rights to self-governance.

How to Remember?

BBT will contribute to the collection and preservation of evidence of the Tigray Genocide; advocate internationally and through partnerships for a Genocide determination in Tigray; and work to achieve accountability for those that designed, orchestrated, and implemented the Tigray Genocide.

BBT also intends to build a memorial park and museum to preserve the history of the struggle of Tigray and Tigrayans (past and present), while focusing more on the impact of the genocidal war.
